How it feels

A whipped airy cream that feels smooth and lightweight with a matte finish. Recommended for normal, combination, oily or sensitive skin.

Why we made it

Mattescreen was created as a daily sunscreen option for those with normal to oily skin, and recommended even for sensitive skin. Its tinted, blendable formula is designed to mattify and smooth skin's appearance while visibly blurring pores and minimizing white cast. Mattescreen is free of pore-clogging oils and provides expert SPF 40 sun protection.

How to Apply

Wear Mattescreen on its own or as a makeup-gripping primer.

  1. Complete your skincare routine
  2. Apply Mattescreen generously and evenly across your face and neck
  3. Allow 30 seconds for product to set before applying makeup

Uses

Helps prevent sunburn • If used as directed with other sun protection measures (see Directions), decreases the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun

Warnings

For external use only • Do not use on damaged or broken skin • Stop use and ask a doctor if rash occurs • When using this product keep out of eyes • Rinse with water to remove • Keep out of reach of children • If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away

Directions

Apply generously and evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure • Reapply at least every 2 hours • Use a water resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating • Sun Protection Measures. Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with broad spectrum SPF of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including: • Limit time in the sun, especially from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. • Wear long-sleeve shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses • Children under 6 months: Ask a doctor

"This is the best sunscreen I've ever used! It glides on smoothly, feels lightweight, and is perfect for my very sensitive skin. New Formula Stings; Too Orange

"Expanding shades for inclusivity was great, but I didn’t realize the formula changed until after days of using a new tube of Sunrise, my face, eyes, and lips were burning and stinging. I have a mini tube of the old formula and within a day my face calmed down again. I gave the new formula one more try and the pain returned. After 8 years of daily use I’m so disappointed this can no longer be my ride or die spf. I also compared the old tube to the new sunrise tube and, despite claims it’s the same the sunrise color is much more orange. Maybe the new formula will work for those with less sensitive skin, but I can no longer purchase and use mattescreen. Attached photo shows original mattescreen tint on the right and the new Sunrise tint on the left. Significantly different both before and after blending."

Great suncreen, maddening packaging

"I have very sensitive skin, and I love this sunscreen. Finally - a mineral sunblock that's lightweight with a pleasant, powder-like smoothness instead of something thick and greasy with a strong white cast. The tint is minimal, but not nonexistent, and the matte effect is gentle. However, I HATE the shape of the bottle. It is very obviously - by the design orientation and the advertising - supposed to be upright, stood up on the cap. However, the cap is too rounded on the rim and far, far too narrow. It tips over CONSTANTLY and is difficult to store as intended. There is absolutely no excuse for it. Supergoop: y'all gotta fix this ASAP."

"First tried this from a sample I received with my usual order of Glowscreen and Bright Eyes. I get SO many compliments on my (literally) glowing skin, but really wanted to find something that was more matte for other occasions (and I no longer do foundation). Exactly what I was looking for was delivered in a sample of Supergoop Mattescreen and it was immediately added to my rotation. It is light, it is matte, it is exactly what I needed.
